The Suncoast British Car Club took advantage of Cinco de Mayo falling on a Saturday this year by celebrating with a spirited rally followed by an even more spirited potluck fiesta.

The rally began at 2 PM with a route taking participants on a scenic course through the bucolic countryside east of Sarasota. The driving instructions included the usual course checkpoint questions as well as some Mexican trivia. Fifteen members' cars participated, all making it without incident to a member's house, the site of the Mexican-themed potluck. Team Bucchino (Rick and Ellen) had the most correct answers and won the coveted SBCC Cinco de Mayo 2012 Rallye trophy. Awards were also presented for best ethnic attire. Nick Pearce won the "Frito Bandito" look-alike contest and Nancy Bennett was the senora/senorita mas bonita. About 35 people made it to the potluck dinner. The food was varied and excellent, the beer was cold, and the company, as always, delightful.
